Tabacco Toscano Eau de Cologne, named after the Tuscan tobacco known as Herba catharinaria, used by Caterina de' Medici. Bergamot and Tuscan tobacco leaves at the opening. Leather, amber and birchwood at the heart. Cedarwood and musk at the base.

Description

Tuscan tobacco, traditionally cured with wood smoke, gives the composition its intense and leathery character. Cultivated and documented in the Florentine region since the 16th century, it reached the Medici court through botanical and trade networks. Smoky and woody in opening, the composition deepens into a resinous base of cedarwood, guaiacum, sandalwood and vanilla. From the Firenze 1221 collection.

Richard ★★★★★

The bergamot lifts the tobacco leaves beautifully at first spray, making it feel bright rather than heavy. It settles into a warm amber and leather skin scent that lasted me through a full workday.

William ★★★★★

The leather and birchwood drydown stays close to the skin for hours, but it’s the tobacco leaf note that keeps pulling me back for another sniff. Wore it to a smoky bar last night and it felt like the scent was made for that room.

Julian ★★★★★

The opening bergamot hits bright and green, but within an hour that Tuscan tobacco leaf takes over with a warm, smoky calm that lasts through the workday. The leather and amber keep it from feeling too rustic—it's polished but still has that Mediterranean edge.
